|App that can find out why your Baby is crying|
For new mothers who can’t tell what their baby cry means, technology has made a way out. A smartphone app has been developed by a team of researchers, the app is able to decode what the baby’s crying for.
The Infant Cries Translator app was developed in Yunlin at the National Taiwan University Hospital, to do this, different baby sounds were recorded and compared to a large database. Developers claim the App is able to distinguish between 4 separate crying sounds .
Trying to develop this app, 200,000 crying sounds were collected from 100 new born babies by the researchers.
If the baby start crying, the user just needs to push the recording button for about ten seconds, then the sounds will be uploaded to the Cloud Drive.
It goes through a differentiating process, the app analyses the sound for about 15 seconds and sends the results to the user’s mobile phone.
One of the head researchers, Chang Chuan-yu said
“The Infant Cries Translator can differentiate four different statuses of sounds of baby crying, including hunger, the diaper getting wet, sleepy and pain,”.
Chuan-yu also said.
“So far, according to the feedback from users, the accuracy of the app we have tested can reach 92 percent for babies under two weeks old,” .
There is a tendency that the app become less accurate as the baby gets older, but the researchers believe that it is ideal for infants below the age of six months.
The Infant Cries Translator app is available for download on both Apple’s App Store and Google Play.
