Why you should care about 4G LTE

LTE offers faster download and upload speeds that will considerably improve your internet experience. With LTE you can stream music and video, upload and download faster. You can essentially use your mobile or tablet like a fixed line Internet connection.

It is worth mentioning that a lot of individuals have already been rocking this service; users in Lagos can testify to this! Even though the 4G LTE will be the next big thing in Nigeria, there are currently some shortcomings.

It isn’t a do or die affair but to use this service, you need to ensure that:

1. You have a compatible phone (a phone that supports 4G LTE)

2. Your sim card must be activated to use 4G data bundles

How to check if your phone is compatible to use the 4G service

Let I said earlier, your phone must be compatible;

To check, quickly text 4G to 131

The text is free of charge and after which you should receive any of these texts.

Yello! Your device is 4G ready but you need to upgrade your SIM to enjoy MTN 4G LTE. Please visit the nearest MTN store or partner retailer for a sim swap now.

OR

Yello! You need to upgrade your SIM card and device to enjoy MTN 4G LTE. Please visit the nearest MTN store or partner retailer to upgrade now.

If you got the first message as a reply, congratulations you’re good to go.

You now have to walk majestically into the nearest MTN store or outlet and exchange your sim card with a new configured MTN 4G sim. (Don’t worry, it’s still your sim)

But if you received the second message, accept my condolence.

Your phone is not compatible and hence you need to get a compatible phone – if you’re wondering which phone could be compatible, I’ll advise you subscribe to our newsletter because I’ll do a write-up on that soonest – be the first to get the article.

If you’ve swapped your sim with a 4G configured sim, here are the subscription plans, their validity period and price.

1. 100MB for N500 (Valid for 7 days).

2. 50MB for N499 (Valid for 24 hours).

3. 200MB for N1000 (Valid for 30 days).

4. Unlimited data for N36,999 (Valid for 30 days).

5. 42GB for N66499 (Valid for 12 Months).

6. 10GB for N6000 (Valid for 30 days).

7. 15GB for N10,000 (Valid for 30 days).

The list doesn’t end there; dial *444# to see all subscription

In case you’re curious or have any question bothering you, kindly leave a comment and I’ll get back to you.
