Maybe you’ve been a big fan of Samsung, Gionee, Infinix or the almighty Apple and because your favourite phone brand doesn’t support Tango technology, you might have never, gotten a taste of what a tango phone can do.
Tango phones are the next big deal, they won’t in any way pay your bills but are worth your attention.
What are they really?
Tango, formerly known as Project Tango (while undergoing testing) is a technology platform
Tango is a set of sensors and computer vision software that gives any device the ability to understand space and motion like humans do. It also gives augmented reality capabilities that feel positively futuristic.
Tango adds motion tracking, depth perception, and area learning capabilities to any device, so it can understand its motion as it moves through an area, detect how far way it is from the floor, walls, and objects, and see and remember the key visual features of a physical space in three-dimensional space.
This kind of technology does not require the use of GPS or any other signal.
Guess who are the minds behind this!
It’s the Google team..
Tango is being developed, authored and pioneered by the big brother ‘Google’
Google being the ‘boss’ and famous ringleader in software developing has made this a reality for both consumers and application developers!
This platform allows app developers to create consumer experiences that incorporate indoor navigation, bodily house measurement, environmental recognition, 3D mapping, augmented reality, and windows into a virtual world.
Looking too geeky right?
I nod my head in agreement with you. But this tech is for consumers to enjoy
You remember Pokemon Go right? The augmented reality game that practically broke world’s record.
The game uses the same augmented reality technology and surprisingly…
After making our wish for a prominent augmented game come true, the game left some wounds (far painful that one gotten from a Samsung Note 7 explosion) on some guys.
Augmented Reality turned into Hospital Reality. Hope you’ve not forgotten those folk who fell from a cliff while trying to catch Pokemon! Lol. They were adults, no KIDS
That’s just one game using an augmented reality. Now, imagine a whole phone using Augmented Reality (AR).
Cool and awesome right?
Tango phone in real sense lets you see more of your surrounding (in augmented form).
By just holding your phone, you can:
– watch as virtual objects and information appear on top of your surroundings.
– measure your surroundings with 3D tools, then re-imagine them with virtual furniture, appliances and more.
– bring virtual objects into your world—from toys to planets to pets—and play with them like they’re actually there
– navigate stores, museums and other indoor locations, with directions overlaid onto your surroundings (this feature is COOMING SOON!)
Do all device support the Tango technology?
If your question sounds like this
“Can I watch virtual objects with my Phantom 6 or my Infinix Zero 4?“
Em.. Big NO!
Sorry but this technology is yet to go viral. Right now, there are only two devices using the Tango technology.
I call these devices (Lenovo Phab 2 Pro and the Asus ZenFone AR) ‘the righteous device.’
Lenovo Phab 2 Pro was actually the first device on earth to run on Google’s Tango technology. Whereas, Asus ZenFone AR being the second has been endowed far greater than the Lenovo Phab 2.
ZenFone AR is the world’s first 5.7-inch smartphone with both Tango and Daydream technology. (I clap to that)
While tango lets you interact with the world using Augmented Reality (AR), Daydream gives you a high quality and immersive Virtual Reality (VR) experience on your phone.
That’s 2 for the price of 1. Sweet ha?
In case you’re wondering what the Asus ZenFone AR specifications are, check here (the Asus official page)
If you’re thinking the Tango technology is meant for Oyibo (white) people. Let me burst your bubble.
Augmented reality is part of the future! Remember the feel and experience you get from playing Pokemon Go? That’s the kind of feel Tango gives.
Can I install Tango on my phone?
Now this you trying to be contended with what you have (which is nice).
Ohhh.. I have a Gionee phone, instead of wasting over $500 just to buy the Lenovo Phab 2 Pro or the Asus ZenFone AR, why don’t I just somehow download or install the Tango (Augmented Reality) on my phone.
If that’s you speaking, accept my condolence.
Sorry buddy, so far so good, only 2 phones have this feature and yeah!!
Tango comes pre-installed.
It’s not like those famous augmented mobile games that you can somehow download and enjoy it.
