So, How Do You Share Data on Mtn?
Below is a step by step guide on how to share data on Mtn. The steps are divided into 3. If you have never shared data on Mtn before, follow all 3 steps. But if you have previously shared data on Mtn, you could skip step 1 and 2.
Here’s how to share data on Mtn.
Step 1: Register for Mtn Data share
Supposing you have an active data on your Mtn sim, the first step to share data on Mtn is to register for Mtn data share.
To register for Mtn Data Share, simply text REG to 131 via SMS or dial *131*2*1#. When you do that, you should receive a message containing a special PIN. The special PIN is a system generate PIN, you’ll have to change it to something you’ll easily and always remember.
Step 2: Change Mtn Data Share PIN
There are two ways to change the default PIN given to you. You can either dial *131*2*5# or simply open the default message app on your phone and text Change Old_Pin New_Pin New_Pin to 131. See example below
“Change 1234 1960 1960” to 131.
Here 1234 is the Old_Pin and 1960 is the New_Pin.
Step 3: Add Beneficiaries – Share Data On Mtn
After changing the default pin given to you by Mtn to something you’d easily remember, the final step to share data on Mtn is to add beneficiaries to your Mtn Data Share Account.
There are also 2 ways to do this.
You can either text Add to 131 via SMS or dial the USSD code *131*2*3#.
… One last thing
You can add up to 5 beneficiaries to your Mtn Data share account but that won’t give them the immediate access to use your data, you have to give them the go ahead with a simple command.
To give them access to use your data, text Share to 131 via SMS or dial *131*2*4#
