What a pleasant news it is; users (U.S users currently) can now get an unlocked and sim-free version of either the iPhone 7 or iPhone 7 plus from Apples official online store.
It is worth mentioning that you aren’t mandated to make immediate full payment for the device even as pricing for the sim-free model starts at $649 for iPhone 7 and $769 for the iPhone 7 plus.
For the sake of the news guys, a SIM-free iPhone 7 does not imply that the phone cannot use a SIM card. Rather, it simply means you’re allowed to insert a micro or nano SIM ( the first batch of iPhones released last month were locked and not SIM-free).
The SIM-free iPhone comes without a wireless contract commitment or carrier financing. It doesn’t come with a nano-SIM card. And because it’s unlocked, it isn’t tied to one carrier, so you can get a nano-SIM from any supported carrier worldwide, such as AT&T, T-Mobile, Verizon, or Sprint in the United States.
How To Get A SIM-free iPhone 7
If you want to get an unlocked iPhone7 or 7 Plus, do yourself a favour by going to Apple’s Online Store
1. On Apple’s Online Store, choose your preferred model.
2. Instead of picking a carrier on the left (as usual), click on the “SIM-free” version by the right.
In all colours, the SIM-free versions of the iPhone 7 will start shipping between 3 business days except the Jet Black which could take 3 – 5 weeks.
However, there is a different story to tell about the iPhone 7 Plus. Shipping commences between 3 – 4 weeks for all colours except the Jet Black which takes 6 – 8 weeks.
