How Do You know If Your iPhone Is Charging?

Knowing if an iPhone is charging is quite easy. Similar way you know if other phones are charging - the battery charging on the screen display

But if you didn't turn off your iPhone, just press the sleep/wake button. That should take you to the unlock screen where you can see the charging signal.

Here's How To Know If Your iPhone Is Charging Or Not

How To Tell If Your Dead iPhone Is Charging.

For one reason or the other, you must have used up all the juice on your iPhone - that's no problem by the way. For your phone to come alive again, the charge on the battery needs to reach a minimum threshold of charge before it comes back on and that could take a couple of minutes.

  • The image on the left indicates that iPhone needs to be charged, charger not connected.
  • The image on the right indicates that iPhone needs to be charged, currently charging.

Now, if your dead iPhone won't charge or will not charge when plugged in, three components might be at fault:

1. The Adaptor (the part of the charger that plugs into the socket)

2. The lightning cable (the part of the charger that plugs into your phone)

3. The phone itself

Knowing which is faulty isn't always easy. You will have to work out which has the issue by swapping them one after the other with a replacement. You could see if your friend's charger charges your phone, or if theirs charge yours.

According to Apple Support, if your device charges slowly or won’t charge,

1. Check for any sign of damage like bend or breakage on your charging cable and USB adapter.

2. Use a wall power outlet and check for firm connections between your charging cable, USB wall adapter, and wall outlet, or try a different outlet.

3. Check the charging port on the buttom of your phone, if you find any kind of debris, remove it and plug your cable into your phone.

4. Let your device charge for a half hour (If your device is unresponsive afterwards, learn what to do).

5. Force restart your device:
On an iPhone X, iPhone 8, or iPhone 8 Plus: Press and quickly release the Volume Up button. Press and quickly release the Volume Down button. Then, press and hold the Side button until you see the Apple logo.

On an iPhone 7 or iPhone 7 Plus: Press and hold both the Side and Volume Down buttons for at least 10 seconds, until you see the Apple logo.

On an iPhone 6s and earlier, iPad, or iPod touch: Press and hold both the Home and Top (or Side) buttons for at least 10 seconds, until you see the Apple logo.

6. Let your device charge for another half hour.

If you've done all check and your iPhone still won't turn on or charge, it could mean your phone is faulty. That being the case, you should take your iPhone, the charging cable and the charging adapter to an Apple Retail Store or Apple Authorized Service Provider or better still contact Apple HERE

Some tips to keep your iPhone battery healthy

1. Charge your new iPhone for at least 3 hours before using it for the first time. Don’t forget to use the included wall charger instead of a computer USB port.

2.Charging with branded charger and cable.

3.When your iPhone is fully charged, feel free to use it until its battery is fully drained.

4. Don't be fond of using your iPhone while it's charging.

However, you shouldn't worry too much about battery cycles because you will most likely replace the phone long before you notice any appreciable degradation in the battery life.
