According to the great social network, Twitter, it will launch an online application that will allow verification of accounts easier and hence forth, users will be able to identify public figures and organization as original and trustworthy.

The vice president of user services, Twitter, Tina Bhatnagar was quoted saying:

"We want to make it even easier for people to find creators and influences on Twitter so it makes sense for us to let people apply for verification."

She also added:

"We hope opening up this application process results in more people finding great, high-quality accounts to follow, and for these creators and influencers to connect with a broader audience."

For the record, Twitter officially introduced account verification for users and organizations in the year 2009. Currently, the company can count a total of over 187,000 verified accounts for significant personalities in Music, Film, Fashion, Government, Religion, TV, Sport, Religion, Media, Politics and Business.

Having a twitter verified account; you have nothing to lose. Followers and other users will be sure they are actually reading true comments and interacting with the actual person and not any imposter.

A few example of people with a verified twitter account are the likes of President Barack Obama, having 76 million followers and Katy Perry with over 90 million followers.

Like it is popularly said, every thing has two sides; an advantage and a disadvantage. One thing for certain is that with this development, "everyone" can get a verified twitter account; even the bad guys. Within a little time frame, lost of imposters will as well get a verified twitter account. But could twitter tighten up its security? Why not share your thoughts with us
